Word Work
Exhibition project with accompanying lecture program
Word Work
Twelve colored posters with the six protonyms SMORP, FLOGO, RITOB, ONOMONO, EXPLOM, YEMMELS built the foundation of The Word Company’s installation Word Work in the Galerie Barbara Weiss. They have been placed unsorted within different sized blocks on the gallery walls.
An accompanying lecture program with three lectures has taken place: Vincent Doherty “From the Index Card Box to Corpus Lexicography—How does a word get into the dictionary?”, Michael Bölker “Nature’s Dictionary—What language do our genes speak?”, and Adib Fricke “Who owns the words?—Stories that the words have written”.
