ES WIRD
Es wird—Ich weiss
For the new building C on the campus of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society, artist Adib Fricke has created an installation consisting of two impressive illuminated letterings that not only stand out visually, but also convey deeper philosophical and emotional messages.
The first lettering, “ES WIRD” (We’re Getting There), 22 meters long and 3.4 meters high, installed on the roof of the new building C, is a widely visible sign of change and development. In bright red, it brings a powerful and sensual colorfulness to the functional architectural surroundings and can be seen from many points on the campus and beyond.
The second lettering, “ICH WEISS” (I Know), becomes a daily companion for all those who use the passageway between the campus and the outer university grounds. With a length of 6.8 meters and a height of 90 cm at eye level, the blue lettering sets an independent accent, inviting reflection on achievements and personal knowledge.
The artwork was developed especially for the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences and is inspired by the Ludwigshafen-born philosopher Ernst Bloch and his work *The Principle of Hope*. The art is timeless, it works both in direct relation to the studies and on a philosophical level and creates an identification with the university that has an effect far beyond the student years. The pair of words ES WIRD - ICH WEISS has already become a common phrase among university members.
